As a student of the visual arts, with a Master's in Art History and 14 years of practicing photography, I am well aware of what it takes to create images that will leave a lasting impression. Although I photograph a range of subjects, I am primarily interested in portraiture because of the sentimental value that people place on photographs of their youth, of loved ones, ceremonies, and of the past in general. Photographs are one of the rare things in life that actually appreciate over time, and can be enjoyed for generations to come. For this reason I take great pride, and receive tremendous satisfaction from knowing that the images I take will be shared and rediscovered time and time again.Composition, lighting, and all of the other technical aspects are a concern for any photographer, but I also place great emphasis on getting to know the people I place in front of my lens. Whenever possible, I try to incorporate elements that reflect something about them, such as their interests, hobbies, or occupations for a more personalized touch. I believe that some of my more interesting portraits are constructs that I intentially set up to play with notions of identity and explore a range of emotions. Even though I take my work very seriously and put a lot of thought into the process, I am also easy going, flexible, open to suggestions, and looking to enjoy the experience.
